Ingredients
- 500g beef (sirloin or rump steak, trimmed of fat)
- 100g pineapple (chopped)
- 60g soy sauce
- 30g mirin
- 15g golden caster sugar
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 large onion (cut into half moons)
- 200g cooked basmati rice
- 20g toasted sesame seeds
Method
- Heat a tablespoon of sesame oil in a large wok or frying pan over high heat.
- Add the sliced onion and stir-fry for about 2 minutes, until it starts to soften.
- Add the beef and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until browned.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sesame oil.
- Pour the marinade over the beef and stir-fry for another minute, until the meat is coated.
- Add the chopped pineapple and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes, until heated through.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Serve the beef and pineapple mixture over cooked basmati rice, garnished with toasted sesame seeds.
