Recipe Details

Preparation Time

10 mins

Cooking Time

12-15 mins

Ingredients

  • 250g plain flour
  • 50g wholemeal flour
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 225ml buttermilk or natural yogurt
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp porridge oats

Method

  1. Combine the flours, bicarbonate of soda, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk or yogurt, honey, and milk until smooth.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms. If too sticky, add a little more flour.
  4. Divide the dough into six equal pieces and shape each into a ball. Flatten slightly into a disk shape.
  5. Use a sharp knife or razor blade to cut a deep cross in the top of each loaf.
  6. Dust your hands with a little flour to prevent sticking.
  7. Heat the air fryer to 180C. Place baking parchment in the basket and cook the rolls in batches until golden brown, about 12-15 mins.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and let cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
